Garrett’s Screen Test @ The Dali Museum – No Words…

Oh this happened – at first I did not want to try it – but it was strange and fun and exciting all at once.

It is interesting see the face/facial features and expressions without sound. Somehow I had a glimpse into my own soul, in a way…

Museum Visit! LACMA/Los Angeles County Museum of Art – Third Time is a Charm? Yes!

I have the most wonderful time at LACMA today! I was joined by my friend Kara. Museums are almost always better with a friend! Unless I am a super introspective mood… Anyway, it was wonderful and we had a blast. And touched part of the Berlin Wall on the way to the car. Wow, LA!

Notes on Detroit: Part One (Pre-Visit)

So I am wanting/needing to visit Detroit! I have been so curious about it all! The development. The artists. The museum thinking of auctioning everything to pay city debts! The wonderful and alive people! I have an art and urban planning background, so I really need to visit this city and get firsthand scoop!

Whenever I read re-development/art related Detroit stories/view vids, I feel inspired. Inspiration seems to be difficult to come by these days …

This lady seems fantastic!

Outdoor museums of found objects! Love it! How fascinating!

I also need to feed my semi-obsession with visiting Whole Foods Markets in whatever city I am in. Newly opened stores are the most exciting/alluring. It has been work related, but I simply enjoy checking out the different stores and seeing the local flavor of people and the community. And of course amazing healthy food. 🙂

Detroit has a newly opened store downtown! Of course it is on my list. 🙂

Blood Moon Two! How to View!

When can you see it??

“When Will the Eclipse Happen?

The eclipse begins with the partial phase, when the moon enters Earth’s dark shadow (also called the umbra shadow). That begins at 2:15 a.m. PDT (5:15 a.m. EDT). Then the umbral shadow will spread across the moon’s disk, moving from left to right.

At 3:25 a.m. PDT (6:25 a.m. EDT) totality begins, when the moon is fully engulfed in the umbral shadow and turns a shade of orange red. The deepest or midpoint of the eclipse will be at 3:55 a.m. PDT, and totality continues until 4:24 a.m. PDT. The last phase of the partial eclipse ends at 5:34 a.m. PDT.”

Goodbye Facebook? Fbook as USPS? $1 Per Message??

So Facebook admitted to “mood manipulating” 700,000 users for a “test.” What else are they up to?

“Facebook ‘conducted widespread experiments’ on user data to ‘alter people’s behaviour’”
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/facebook/10944613/Facebook-conducted-widespread-experiments-on-user-data-to-alter-peoples-behaviour.html

I have been wanting to get rid of my personal page for a while …

Fbook is a tool – it can be used in different ways. Is it working for you?

Oh, by the way. I paid $1 to send a message via fbook. Yep! Folks, that is more that a first class REAL letter via USPS! Or a real postcard with a nice picture on the front!

Fbook as USPS?

Recently I needed to get in contact with this new friend. I did not have another way to be in contact. At the same time, fbook would not allow me to add this person as a friend. Or to message this person, or “non-friend,” according to fbook.

Dot get me started on their pesky “other” mailbox. Yes it exists – they filter mail for you- that they deem as “spam.” But I have never received spam on there. It seems they are doing this to begin charging for “fbook mail.”

ArtWalk Fun

These kids came into my gallery, Grapple, with their dad.  The dad was referred by a friend.  It was fun because they told their dad they wanted to learn to paint while they were inspecting my work… Anyway they looked around and wanted a couple of cards which featured my newest painting.  They both wanted the same one.   I was excited to have kids interested in my newest creation!  Later they were telling me their interpretation of my painting that was a printed card, their new purchase.  Then I showed them the original and they were surprised at the size and that it was in fact larger.  “Wow, it is so large!”   Kids can be so positive and refreshing.  :)  What is it they say?  The best things in life are free.

Book Review! ‘Help, Thanks, Wow: The Three Essential Prayers’ by Anne Lamott

First off, this book is very fun and just downright truthful. Lamott has achieved a level of self-assurance mixed thoroughly with humility that most current writers could only hope for. Subtle and poignant, she tells it like it is, as always. Politics are not my thing in regards to writing, don’t worry, she seems to be tired of them as well and seems to mostly avoid the topic.
